It may be an exaggeration but Spain is a country where more than most people define themselves by what they do and what they want to do rather than who they are. Ambition is measured by wanting to be a civil servant because you cannot be sacked. I am sorry but it doesn’t float my boat.

In Spanish the term in social media circles is “Desvirtualizar” and last night I did just that. What it means is to meet people in real life that you know in virtual reality, or rather online.
So last night I went out with my other half to meet a group of people some of whom I already knew online but only two of whom I had previously met in the flesh.
I have been trying to plan August. Between client visits, holiday, a visit to England to take my eldest to University and a whole heap of work things are starting to get a little complicated. The truth is that at times i actually have a problem planning a day or two ahead because of the nature of what I do. New shiny things come up every day that may need my attention and there are always loose ends to tie up on current projects.
I don’t like to leave things unfinished. Do you? Therefore when I suggested to myself that it might be a good idea to produce a lot of videos very quickly it seemed like an interesting challenge. However I know myself intimately after so many years in my company and I knew if I didn’t put a huge hole in the project very quickly and get the whole World as accountability partners making sure I followed through on the project that it might fizzle out a bit.
I have an online friend who has very definite views on two things, MLM and affiliate or referral marketing. Now I can understand his misgivings about MLM or network marketing because 99% of the industry is smoke and mirrors with overpriced goods that do little to no good.
So it’s goodbye to our old friend Bavotasan theme and welcome to the new theme using a different colour scheme and a totally different look. Why have I changed the theme on the site? Simply put the upgrade to Wordpress 3.0 and the theme I was using being upgraded at the same time just made things totally unworkable.
I cannot actually believe how cool this looks. If Flipboard works as demonstrated then it should revolutionise how we consume content online, especially content from our friends in the Social Media World.
Sometimes I have time to crank out a few articles and you get to see them on this blog and a few others I write on like Houses For Sale In Spain. Sometimes though on my lesser known blogs I don’t really have too much time to write and they get criminally neglected meaning they lose some of their appeal and impact.
I have had one of those mornings where you finish up with the blood pressure through the roof and teeth ground down through so much gnashing of them throughout the morning.
Last week I made a Hitler Downfall Parody Video. If you don’t know anything about this particular internet meme then the story is this. There is a film called Downfall which plots Hitler’s downfall. It is a German film and totally stunning with an amazingly convincing performance in the lead role.

My Hitler video has been described variously as hilarious, brilliant, stunning, really funny and extremely clever but it was also called linkbait. Now linkbait is where you just put something up to create a bit of controversy and therefore get more traffic to your site. I wouldn’t spend five hours working on something just for a bit of linkbait though, I would diss somebody in text!
As I write this I have a half naked 5 year old playing on the Wii nearby and another just getting up. My 18 year old is bringing her cases down for her holiday in Mallorca and the house is a total tip after a weekend of parties for the 4 year old’s birthday, and birthday party on Sunday.
I have just read something that took me aback somewhat. Were you aware that there are more than 25 million meetings a day in the United States. By meetings I think it refers to business meetings.
If so this is criminal. An absolutely colossal waste of time in talking shops. A meeting is usually an excuse to procrastinate. 25 million productive meetings could very easily pull the U.S out of their recession and very soon they would overtake China and India as the powerhouse growth economies of the World. Why won’t they though?
The 30DC is dead. Ed Dale has killed it.
