As you will know if you have read the recent posts in here, I spent the majority of last weekend working and working a lot. One of the sites that I set up I have now started uploading content to. www.tldrentals.com is an idea I have had for some time to put powerful domains in the hands of small and medium sized businesses for ranking purposes. What do I mean by that?
Well if a business wants to start up a website they can of course but depending on their line of work they may well be up against the big boys in Google, for example, estate agents have to compete against huge property portals with enormous marketing budgets so getting your new domain to rank well in Google and the other search engines can be just about impossible, unless you know some tricks
.
However by using domains that are older, have backlinks already, are listed in DMOZ and Yahoo and have history, a business owner has a chance of competing against the big sites. Nevertheless, because I think that currently and in the near future it is going to be impossible to travel back in time and register domains ten years ago this is another impossibility, or is it? We can get hold of those domains because somebody might not be doing anything with the domain.
An example is that this week I saw a website for sale for a mere $18500 (OK I know it’s a lot). The keyword has 1,116,000 searches per month and the domain was from 1993, yes domains existed in 1993 even if YouTube only appeared in 2005. As soon as a site goes up on that domain it is very likely to quickly outrank the other sites optimising for that keyword because the other ranking factors such as Yahoo listing, DMOZ submission etc… were all in place.
So what is www.TLDRentals.com? It is a site to put together you as a business owner or domain holder with people who haven’t got what you have. It is just starting up of course but by next week there will be at least 100 listings with details of leasing possibilities. The domains vary in value and all of the other factors but you can get your own domain from just $10 per month, hosted for free and for a small extra fee you can have your website up and running. To see an example of a listing just go here.

Leasing domains is certainly something I’d like to play with in the future.
It seems a logical step for you boys Brent. Maybe you can help me out with my site
