Livescribe 2gb Smartpen
If there is one thing that an entrepreneur needs more than anything it is leverage. There are a limited number of hours in the day and days in the week. You don’t want to be constantly catching up and putting things into different formats for different places. Therefore you need kit.
This Recommended Products Section of the website describes the products I use to either get great leverage (I will be posting about my work team in India very soon), or to get things done. I have used them all to a greater or lesser degree and they all provide a fantastic service, are great products or should be seriously looked at as a learning tool if you as an entrepreneur want to get ahead in life.
The first post here talks about the absolutely superb Livescribe 2GB Pulse Smartpen.
This pen does everything for you. It is like having a mini computer in your pocket. Designed with the student or business person in mind, the Livescribe 2gb smartpen records the lecture or meeting notes, writes on the specially designed Livescribe Paper and Pad and synchronises the recording to the notes taken. Once you have finished you can download the lecture in AAC format to your computer and share it with your friends along with the PDF of your written notes. There is a software upgrade on the Livescribe website which recognises your writing and turns it into digital font, even if your writing is as bad as mine. How good is that? It can also do so much more and in this little video below you can see what it does.
Now if you are thinking of buying it and seriously why wouldn’t you, a couple of suggestions. Firstly buy it from the States. It will take longer to get to you if you are in Europe but it is so much cheaper through Amazon in the States than Amazon in Europe. In fact just use the link above to get your Livescribe Pen (And if you buy it I get a nice commission which makes up for the fact that I told you about this fantastic product) and then scroll down to get the other things that will be so useful to you later like extra paper and refills for the pen.
Meanwhile in the comments here I want you to tell me what you think this pen can be used for. I have thought of a few things below:
Catching out liars
Recording telephone conversations
Espionage (James Bond would have loved one at some stage I am sure)
OK time to get serious. When you go to conferences or meetings sometimes you look back at your notes and if your focus had gone you just think “What the ….!” This eliminates that feeling. It also allows you to let your focus wander as you know everything is being recorded, did I mention that it records up to 300 hours of audio? I went to a four day conference in November and since then I have listened back in the car to the MP3 recordings and I have to say the number of things I would have missed if I had just taken notes. This is essential for anyone especially those with information overload.
It is also my favourite toy at the moment

Despite being (at least in the video) very large, this has got to be the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. Beats the hell out of the iPad, at least for me! I think I may have to order one.

It is well worth it Justin. The simple thing about reviewing things from the point that they were at by tapping on the point in your writing is stunning. Conversion to MP3 is easy too, at least on a Mac
