I walk into a room and I start telling you how great I am, how I can solve all of your problems and that my company is the best. You tell me to go forth and multiply or when you finally get away from me you tell everyone else what a total pr**k I am.
Scenario 2;
You walk into a room and start raving about how good i am, that my company solved all your problems and that the service was fantastic. All I have to do later is answer the phone and take the order from a client already sold.
This is known as third party installed perception. It is also known as word of mouth marketing and is the single best way of getting more business on an individual level.
You can leverage this massively though online.
Give, solve problems, help, and generally be a good egg and you will get much more back in return.
Works for me anyway.
I have received two referral possibilities from Australia recently for people wanting to buy property in Spain. Why? Because in certain areas of the web I am seen to be the source of all knowledge on Spanish living and property issues.
Am I really this source? Well not really but I didn’t tell those clients I was did I? Somebody else did who has seen the amount of content and information that I put out to the assembled throngs of Twitter, Facebook, Posterous, YouTube and the rest of the places I find myself in social media.
Could this be done without being out there and putting oneself out on the line? Well no.
