Walking around Valencia yesterday I thought I would take a few photos of offline businesses that have set up in Valencia recently. If anything proves that there are niches everywhere this is it.
If these businesses can be set up in the middle of a huge recession in Spain doesn’t it just prove that there are niches everywhere?
Now online you have even more of an opportunity as you avoid the overhead involved in setting up a real world business. No need to get an overpriced shop front, you can put that into a monthly adwords budget to get totally targetted traffic to your offer and if you want to really take it on then get yourself a really well designed and optimised site where you are good to go straight away.
There is one major difference between on and offline businesses of course. Offline you set up and hope that you get the footfall to wherever you were able to open up. Online you can create the footfall so all you need is a good offer that somebody will respond to. Do you think you can do that?

The anticrisis shoe shop has four prices, 3,6,9, and 12 Euros. It only advertises the first three outside. Quite a few have sprung up around Valencia recently. Another example of jumping on a bandwagon but an interesting one to jump on. In the same road there are shoe shops charging 90-200 Euros and a Clarks at the end of the road with prices around 100 Euros. They are not empty. The niche is there for them too. Most people just need to get their heads out of the sand to see possibilities and stop believeing that everything is impossible.
I first read it as Anti-Christ shoe shop. Must be the inner goth expressing itself.
Now that would be a micro niche indeed!

Excellent article Graham!!! There are an almost unlimited of micro niches available if your eyes are open to see them. The economic situation has given rise to a number of new markets and business opportunities, all someone has to do is grab them.
