We have talked about enthusiasm, an idea and being tenacious and these are admirable qualities that are needed to start up a business. One of the things that is most overlooked is being in the right place at the right time and being quick to act. However oftentimes this is not a business, it is simply an opportunity. Let’s give an example shall we the currently famous vuvuzela. The World Cup is on and Vuvuzelas are all the rage, whether you love them or loathe them. Yesterday I read about one guy who has made some serious money by selling them online in the last week. (And yes the links here to Vuvuzelas are affiliate links although I have redressed the balance at the end)
What you must do is learn to distinguish the opportunity from the real solid foundation for a business. If you don’t then one day your business could be taken away and you can do nothing to stop it. An example of this would be Amazon of course. Because of a change in the way sales taxes were going to be collected putting the emphasis on Amazon to collect the tax for the State Governments imposed by certain States in the USA last year (Correct me here if I am wrong readers in the States) Amazon stopped allowing people to be affiliates in those States and lots of seriously successful internet marketers lost their businesses, at least temporarily just because of where they lived.
Nevertheless if you are in at the right place on a market that will grow exponentially over the next few years then you can build a business slowly, and sometimes a bit faster, that can stand the test of time and give you a good possibility of selling that business further down the line. Getting the business up and running can depend on many factors as we have seen but there are tools available that will help you speed up the business. We will be looking at them in the next post.
Oh and don’t forget to get your T-Shirt if you really dislike the Vuvuzelas
PS Did you know there was a plugin for WordPress with the noise of the Vuvuzela which opens up as soon as your site does. I don’t dare put it on here, it would drive everyone away.

2) Confusion – When You Lose a Bit Of Focus (Probably because of the Vuvuzelas)
