If you have never read “Think and Grow Rich”, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” and an unlimited number of other self help books you might not know about the Mastermind Group Process. If you have, you can probably tell me more about it than I know. However for those who are not aware of how a mastermind group works and the dynamics of it you would probably be justified in reading and inwardly digesting this post.

Mastermind Group Process

Mastermind Group Process

The theory is that when people with similar goals and ambition are gathered together and plans and ideas are talked about there are more brains there than the number of people. The group forms a collective brain too and therefore problems are looked at from a different angle. All of the inputs give a more useful output.

A Mastermind group is an excellent way of giving mutual support, shared contacts, to bounce ideas off others and more but when you apply the principle of the Mastermind group to people you are working on a project with it really takes off.

Over the last week I have been having a lot of meetings almost on a daily basis with my two colleagues here and now we have totally put together a plan and strategy for the business that we want to push forward. Meanwhile there are three other very positive business possibilities that have come out of the discussions and now all we need is to go back to the initial focus and actually brng the projects to the market.

I was in a Mastermind group for about a year from Summer 2007 onwards and that was a good start but the group lost its dynamism eventually unfortunately and it petered out. One of the people in that group acts as an accountability partner for me still though as we keep making sure that we both stay on track.

How could the Mastermind Group help you then? Do you participate in one? Have you got someone to whom you are accountable every day? Think about it, without accountability what is to stop you straying off your path. Personal motivation can only take you so far.

(Soon I will be writing a post on forming and running a Mastermind group)
