If you have been following this blog for any length of time you will know that I do a bit of domaining, I also have my daughter putting her first site up for sale at the moment on Flippa so this stuff gets rather addictive. The person who really got me up for the idea of domaining was Kenny Goodman. He is a past master at this art and he has a blog where he talks about all sorts of things related to this,
If you have been following the blog for a time you will know that one of the things that I do is domaining. Domaining, for those of you who don’t know, is the buying of domains and usually the selling of websites on those domains. I have actually placed a page on this site as an introduction to it and to give you an opportunity to sign up to receive the free chapter within the Bootstrapping Book that we have upcoming which is about Domaining as a way of making some extra money online.
Possibly a year or so ago I would just have thrown myself into buying this domain. The searches are decent, though nothing mind blowing, but having the exact match domain that is available for sale for a song might have been interesting (Despite what Matt at Google says)
Luckily I have Market Samurai to hand so I haven’t plunged in head first into this buying opportunity.
Sometimes you cannot move forward without a serious look at yourself and what you are doing. The old saying of “Not being able to see the wood for the trees” is very apt. So many opportunities and possibilities raise themselves when you are open to them that more and more trees sprout up every day and you may lose focus on your primary goal or goals.
As an internet marketer and businessperson there is one thing that will make sure that you keep your eyes on the wood and that is ROI, return on investment. The investment is generally time and the return is money or a new project that will eventually lead to money
I talk a good game.
But sometimes I don’t follow through usually because of lack of focus.
I was taught a lesson and humbled into action last weekend by my daughter. Now recently turned 18 I have taught her about buying domains and selling websites. I have bought her Market Samurai as anyone who is serious about internet marketing really should do but the truth is I didn’t really buy her it because Market Samurai comes with two licences when you buy it so you can give it to your outsourcer or in this case my daughter.
