A report has just been leaked to the press that the black economy in Spain now makes up 23.3% of all transactions. This means that a quarter of the economy in Spain doesn’t show up on the official figures for the size of the GDP for example. The figure is 5% higher than a decade ago and it is getting higher due to the famous “Crisis”.
A video post about Entrepreneurs in Spain at the weekend
Facebook are looking for beta testers for a new product. You need to be able to write authoritatively about subjects, mmm I wonder why? Oh yeah, Facebook Wiki. Anyway if you think you can write in an authoritative way then look at the questions below. I have placed my answers in there to give you an example.
A few weeks ago I gave a presentation at the Turbo Charge Networking Event in Fuengirola. Here are the slides in their original format. Obviously without the commentary they make a little less ense. However if you go to the link at the end you can listen to the whole presentation and get a copy of all of the resources mentioned.
As you will know if you have been following the blog I am co-writing a book at the moment. Tentatively called “The Bootstrapping Book – How to start up a business from nothing” (Catchy title I know) it comprises ten chapters with various ideas for getting started in your own business without having to buy stock, rent a place to conduct your business or, in essence, put money down.
The Spanish 30DCHome crew had a meeting this weekend. We talked, discussed, brainstormed and more and out of it has come a solid plan which will be presented on Tuesday. Already got a lot of actionable steps to take in the next few days and we feel that the whole could be a lot greater than the sum of its parts.
Today has been a total feeding frenzy. I am tempted to call the end of the recession but one, or rather two, swallows do not a summer make.
Firstly the madness in the English football market meant that the recession was temporarily forgotten. My club Liverpool ere the biggest culprits there making deals worth 58 million pounds so far. In Spain there were much bigger deals being done but on a micro level and in a shop not in the football boardroom.
Living in Spain is rather strange at times. I have said before in these pages that Spanish life is rather conformist, what one person does successfully everybody else follows in general. Successful estate agents beget copycat models, and the same can be said of academies, theme bars, delicatessens and a huge etcetera. Google is the absolute killer in this area though because people started to use it and everybody else followed. Loads copied but none got traction. In fact just like in English there is a phrase which says “Look for it in Google”, ie Google it.
In Spanish the term in social media circles is “Desvirtualizar” and last night I did just that. What it means is to meet people in real life that you know in virtual reality, or rather online.
So last night I went out with my other half to meet a group of people some of whom I already knew online but only two of whom I had previously met in the flesh.
