When you are an entrepreneur you see opportunities at every turn. This week for example I have had ideas of at least four possibilities for putting together a business. So what I want to talk about today is opportunity cost Opportunity cost is one of the biggest, most important things that you should take into account when starting a new project because you can use so much time doing a project that really hasn’t got the potential to make itself [...]

Living in Spain is rather strange at times. I have said before in these pages that Spanish life is rather conformist, what one person does successfully everybody else follows in general. Successful estate agents beget copycat models, and the same can be said of academies, theme bars, delicatessens and a huge etcetera. For those of you who don’t know the Pareto Principle states that 80% of output comes from 20% of input. This principle is often referred to in business as you will get 80% of profits from just 20% of your clients. The idea being that you try to replicate that 20% of clients and sack the 80% who don’t contribute much to profit and cause probably 80% of the problems.
