Last week I wrote an article about hitting your targets focussed on the online markets. Today it is the turn of offline and again the process is similar with the same mantra, “if you don’t know where you are heading then it doesn’t matter which way you set out”.
The old certainties in life are no longer so certain. Banks are thieves is probably the only one now they are holding onto all that taxpayer money used to bail them out. But now you can no longer rely on the yellow pages or a great location giving you the traffic in a town, what happens when the new superstore opens on the edge of town and moves the centre a few hundred yards away and footfall reduces.
Tim Ferriss called it a muse. Something that you set up and then it pays for you to actually enjoy your life and get you out of the 9-5 lifestyle. A business set up in this way takes time to create though. You cannot just set it up in a couple of days and then watch as you enjoy the fruits of your labors. It takes much longer. During the time you are setting it up you may need to work very long hours especially if you are planning to get out of your current job and are therefore setting it up at night and the weekends. However, you need to find your muse and set it up first of course so how do you do it?
