I wrote the Web Marketing for Estate Agents Book and one of the services I mentioned that is useful to use is Fiverr. So I thought I would give an example of what you can get done as an estate agent or any other business for just $5. After all if you talk the talk then it is essential to walk the walk too isn’t it? I put out a job to design me an ebook cover to someone saying they did that sort of thing for a Fiver and this is what I got back.
The last five months have been rather hectic in my property businesses, Valencia Property and Houses for Sale in Spain. While the Spanish economy burns around me and I have been asked many times by other agents how are you doing it? How are you so busy and making sales while we are sat around wondering when the next client will walk in through the door? About 80% of Spanish Estate agents have closed down and more are closing on a weekly basis as the harsh reality of a market that has contracted greatly since the boom days of the early 2000′s were around. To answer this we need to go back to the Pareto Principle I talked about here and look at the 80/20 rule again.
Just in case you haven’t noticed, I think a few people may have mentioned it, but there are others living in denial or in some cloud somewhere, there is a World Economic Crisis going on right now. Surprised? You may have heard something about it, the Eurozone crisis, the credit crunch, companies falling like ninepins, even Kodak went recently… Yes there is a crisis going on. We are in a period of flux and change and that is certain.
However out of crisis comes opportunity. If you know how to work the crisis.
I have been relatively quiet in here recently because I have been doing what I said I would do, writing, editing and publishing a book in two weeks. Finally I got it out of the door and guess what? It didn’t take two weeks, it took just eight days.
So how did I do it and how can you follow suit in your market?
The concept of Web Marketing for Estate Agents has been with me internally for some time. I was asking myself the question “Why is Valencia Property now successful in the worst economic crisis since the 1930′s whereas most other estate agencies around me are failing miserably and closing down?” The differentiation is in what I do within the company so I thought it would be good to teach that to others.
Just a very quick post today about an app for the iPad called Phoster. I am really ultra impressed by the simplicity of use of this. Take a look at the image. That is actually a poster made using a photo uploaded to my photo reel using Dropbox from my camera and then overlaid using the Phoster app. It was made in ten minutes and that was my first use of the app so obviously it can be done a lot quicker. It was then shared on Facebook, Twitter and various other places and mailed out to clients.
If you were to look at how you can use new tools to market your business you might well get a surprise. We get bogged down into doing the same thing time and again and therefore we shouldn’t be surprised if we get the same results from using those same tools and tactics.
Today therefore I thought I would give you an idea of five tools for estate agents that can be applied to other businesses too with the same effect, ie bringing something new into your marketing mix and differentiating yourself from the herd. To paraphrase Seth Godin, your business needs to be a “Purple Cow”, something that stands out from the rest. These tools may help you out.
